Logging Air/Fuel Ratio

Post by DavidT » Sun Feb 03, 2008 12:42 pm

Folks,

How do I do this on my 2000 model S4 please ? :)

Also, where do I find any other related info, like long term fuel trim etc.

Thanks in advance,

David

You can't log proper AFR on an S4, unless you put a wideband O2 sensor in the exhaust ;)

Thanks Mihnea,

How do I know how the car is running then :( I know the long term trims are engine block 032 but how do you measure a/f when you map them ?

He uses a Wideband 02 sensor to map....not as pricy as they used to be, I bought one to map the Kit Car and it cost something like £100 including the gauge.

Thanks guys, I feel the need for one of these gadgets :)

When I was at MRC last, Doug showed me an LED display that could do EGT, A/F ratio & other stuff (forgot what!) it looked very cool.

I would still like to be able to log a/f though, can you just change the exhaust sensors ? I fancy doing this and wideband EGT sensors too.

Certainly the Megasquirt ECU I'm using for the kit car will log AFR....not sure about the Audi though.

So Mihnea, can wideband O2 sensors be installed & logged with VAG-COM ? :)

on a 2.7T: NO, and it's not a happy "no", because it has been on my drawing board for a few months, this idea to try and get the stock ECU to work with wideband O2 sensors. Unfortunately the hardware is not up to the task, and the only way around it would be to upgrade the ECU to a later one from an Allroad, that had dual widebands, but that is definitely not practical.
