yes it will depending on how much time and effort is put into prep and paint, also depends on the quality of the moulds

Yep as stated, takes alot of prep time to get right, otherwise you'll see the carbon weave in some areas if not done totally right.

Edited to say IMO, bare carbon is so last year! Only small items like lip spoilers, and boot lip spoilers are ok in bare cf, but larger items like bonnets, and tailgates need to be painted IMHO!

Yes will be painting both the bonnet and boot, as well as looking into front wings. Already have someone to paint them and he has painted carbon panels before.

Roof is probably the only large part which you can get away with. It's so high up, some won't even notice, especially on a dark coloured car.

So, what's the rough cost on these items?

I think if you can get a solution that is not wet layup (looks cheap and halfords like), that is not full dry pre preg carbon with autoclave (very expensive to tool never mind cure) then it will be possible at reasonable cost. My personal favourite is between the oven cured pre preg, which is still vacuumed, or the resin infused process. Both are cheaper than the full dry, but more expensive than the wet, but you still get a semi-dry finish as per the proper autoclave stuff - it's just some resin will remain in the weave.

Be interesting to see what process is used here, may even be interested in joining the groups buy if it comes off:wink:

There's lots of ways of preparing Carbon Fibre. The more expensive it is, the better it takes paint. It gets very expensive, and looks better. We want to go to the middle.

the other way round rik .....

cheap resin models will take paint better as you only need to flat down the resin with a DA and 1200, then is ready for paint.

pre preg and dry will need a good filler primer so to smooth out the weave...

ps. andiroo im on the case already, andy has a good man for us........

True :( Always leave unpainted in that loverly matt finish IMHO

Althought the 996 Cup I had had a light silver finish over the carbon front and rear, looked quite nice as you could see the weave thru the paint.
