May I ask how many hours did that take? I think I'll be doing the same shortly.
S4 - no longer missing 1 engine. Last seen leaving trailing black lines of gearbox oil.

about 9 hours in all including getting the box off,i expect a lot more removing turbos,heads,sump,crank....came out easier than i expected

looked like an oil feed its actually a breather of some kind,centre diff is also slightly different and there is an extra hole next to the crank sensor at the bellhousing on the facelift[clean]box

i know thats the problem but with the engine out i can carry out all the work myself

what special tools will i need to remove engine i have the bentley cd-rom workshop manual somewhere just cant find it

extra large shoehorn....not really any special tools required came out quite easy compared to similar engines i have worked on,can do an engine swap on a 300zxtt in about 8 hours now after plenty of practise in the past,thats very similar layout to the audi,although the audi has about 2 million more vac pipes and wires

got carried away,now turned into a complete engine rebuild,new rods pistons,bearings,flowed manifolds,bores honed ready for new pisons,there is virtually no bore wear at 160k
