Correct me if I'm wrong but, on the basis that the Boxster S is both less powerful and lighter, the brakes probably wouldn't be that much of an upgrade.....

New parts are recommended everytime when it comes to those kind of parts sir, don't wanna be taking chances with second hand parts in that department.

i would have to disagree with you there. Calipers are refurbished all the time - i would always use new discs and pads but there is nothing wrong with used calipers.

Refurbishing calipers? Didn't even know this practice takes place. Well if you can get em cheap then by all means go for it.

You need to measure the piston area and pad area and do some brake torque calculations. The stock
S4 calipers do have very good clamping force.

Not 100% if the caliper is different or just uses mounting bracket but Porsche do a 18" and 19" wheel version. Usually the 19" minimum wheel ones are red and the others are grey.

They probably could fit although may need mounting bracket to space them out then you'd have to consider what disc to use plus the disc offset. My Cayennes didn't cost me much more than that and they were 2nd hand but unused.

IMO if budget is your number one priority then go with the B5 RS4 set up else save up a bit more for B7 RS4 stuff or ECS stage 4 kits

Yes you need 18" for the front. The RS4 rears are bigger also. Not sure if you need 18" for them though but probably do.

RS4 Rears will fit under 17" Avus std. wheels. They are much larger dia. than S4.
