Strange one that Fen, mine has no interference at all - it sounds as good if not better (if thats possible) than the CD player.

It was a tuned 530d so it wasn't all that slow albeit hardly in the RS league.
It was however a good couple of years ago so maybe the kit has improved or maybe it integrates better with Audi than BMW head units.

I have been speaking to ipodcarkitdirect.com about this. They said that the Denison that you plug in to the cd won't work and that you have to use the one that plugs in via the aerial (so fm signal, but a bit more reliable than those naff transmitter ones). I suspect that if you use this type you are more likely to get ignition interference too (Possibly your problem on the BM Fen?)
I suspect that he said they can't be used as you don't get full functionality as you say Lig. Which model Denison do you have by the way? Denison also do something called a CD retention module (http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/Audi_CD_Retention_Kit) which means you can keep the cd player too. God knows if it will work on your set up though Lig. If I trusted my ability to wire everything in properly I'd be tempted to give it a go but doubt I'd find the right wires to connect the power to!

My Dension was an ICE>Link PLus and it used the BM's CD connection which is why I was so surprised it whined. I replaced it with a HArman Kardon Drive+Play that did use an in-line FM module and it was better. Ultimately I got an Intravee which was brilliant and also allowed me to add DAB radio.

Phil - Mine is the Ice Link Plus v2.x (thats what it says on the installation guide) and yes it is simply plug and play instead of the CD unit.
It comes with a plug (same as the CD player) and you simply remove the CD plug and plug in the Ice link. There was also a 'ground' wire which has a spade connector on it which goes onto the spade 'male' part (which is attached to the RNS-D unit already - but not used). And hey presto works a treat but with limited display (as described earlier). Maybe it was this Ground lead that you were missing Fen??

I wondered exactly the same thing about the ground lead, but there wasn't one in the version I had as I recall. Maybe that's what makes it a v2.x.
In the BM it was fitted in the boot with the cradle on the dash so the run of cable back to the cradle may have picked up interference also.

I think you're confused Phil. Lig has an Dension ICELink which uses the dock connector on the iPod for connection. What it does was covered further up the thread.

Hmmm, I am confused now??!!
What I have is the Dension Icelink Plus v2.x. This consists of the electrickery bit (long tube box with dension sticker on) - which acts as the interface and is about the size of...well about 10cm long x 2cm wide x 2cm deep. One end of this has hard wired cables which plug directly into the socket that the CD plug goes in and there is a second single wire that plugs to ground. The other end has a small round din socket. Now I have a wire which at one end has the iPod plug which plugs directly into my Nano and the other end has the small round din plug which plugs into the Denison bit so i had to make a small hole (around 1.5cm diameter) in the side of the glove box to feed the cable through.
Getting the RNS-D unit out is easy just 4 'keys' and it slides nicely out you just then have to unplug the CD, plug in the Dension and the ground lead and then feed the wire from the glove box (I had to drop the glove box - about 5 screws) into the centre console so it plugs into the Dension unit.
Fairly simple I would say - the difficult bit is supporting the RNS-D head unit while you connect everything and put loads of wrags everywhere to protect your gear stick and trim!!
Now for the functionality - It is very limited and took a while to get used to!! You basically have your 6 CDs listed on the display as usual but the first 5 are your first 5 playlists and the 6th CD is to access the Denison\Ipod display on your iPod but because this is in the glovebox is useless!!
What I have done is set up 5 playlists Rock, Dance, Indie, Male and female vocal and then I put on a few CDs in each playlist. You could put loads on but then you have to skip to the next album which can be annoying as there is no indication of album names just numbers, for example if you have 10 albums in Rock each with 10 tracks on there will be 100 tracks on CD1??!!
You can also have shuffle on the ipod but it is difficult to stop this while you are moving as you have to go to CD6 (which accesses the Denison menu on the ipod and turn it off).

What more can i ask for , ( give me time , i'll think of something ! ) , certainly looks clean enough , shame about the lack of functionality , but then , the cd multi player doesnt give any names or much does it , just album number and track number
W hat sort of money did you part with for the electrickery etc , and where did you get the keys to pull out the stereo ?audi ?
