Aquamist System.

Post by Chubby » Thu Jul 26, 2007 8:02 am

Has anyone who has fitted an Aquamist system, got any data on IAT drop of performance related data?

And where do you get the water tank from that fits in the tyre well..???

And is it worth it?

Yeah, I have Aquamist 2D. At about 2 degrees ambient temp., it made a difference of 9 degrees celcius at redline in IAT. Using RS4 ICs BTW. Definetely worth the mod. You can get similar results from FMIC I guess. Test was done with MTM Stage3 program running. I did not test it with much higer ambient temps but I guess difference should be about the same...
Using OEM ICs I am now running around 2 bars of boost with not much of a knock; I guess I owe it to Aquamist alond with some other mods. Hope this helps...

Have ordered a 2D system - any fitting points thatyou know that could assist me in fitting for the first time?

What water tank do you have and where did you fit it?

Regards,

R.

I use the washer tank too, it is suitable for a daily ride but may not be for track use...
As for the fitting points: go ahead and get 2ea. 4mm jets and a T for splitting. Then, locate the flex pipes on the IC exits (right behind the head lights). One side goes to the IC, other side to the pipe that connects to TB. Loose the flex pipes and get two metal pipes (3" diam. as far as I can remember) with about 10cm lengths. Place the jets on the pipes and put the pipes in place of the flexes (with jet exits pointing up for easy connection of WI lines) with the help of silicone joints. Routing WI lines should not be any problem...
You're ready for a cooler ride 8)

I have exactly the same setup as Mihnea - only difference is standard flywheel and RS4 clutch - school boy error! Injectors are: 728cc/min injectors at 4 Bar rail pressure according to their site. Not sure what injectors they are.

Sorry about the OT...

Chubby - PM BRETTCOLLINS he will tell you about his experience. He helped me when I was considering this.

Im running the simpler and cheaper 1S Aquamist. Using 0.6mm jets (dual). Be sure to get the checkvalves too to stop water siphioning and turbo imbalance. I would also recommend the APR bipipe as I could never get a perfect seal on the plastic original bipipes.

At the moment pushing 28PSI peak through the stock ICs (installing the IPPs ones this weekend) with no issue. We should run a few Vagcom tests and see how all these approaches compare!

Yes Richard, well done for doing a sterling job on that. . . watching Blue Peter in your formative years has certainly helped!

Just the small matter of resolving your cracked heads now, I doubt papier mache will fix those though.
