Samco TBB bad mould??

Post by MarkB » Mon Apr 02, 2007 2:12 pm

Got a new Samco TBB the other day. I've heard the moulds aren't the greatest but I think this is taking that too far...

My pressure sensor sits at an angle but not this far over and theres not much space to fit a clip. I take it this isn't normal? Should I send it back?

Looks like they have improved it to me!

Getting a lip to fit is another matter.

Looks pretty similar to mine Mark - i trimmed part of the top of the pressure sensor opening to make it a little flatter ...

The ribs inside the sensor take off are parallel with the end... It's quite a severe angle

Does it have samco stamped on it anywhere? I'm pretty sure mine did and although it sat quite high, was not offset like that!

Mine was exactly like that, if you look at the original one it sits at an angle too.

Tried in vain to find a clip and ended up using a tie wrap which seems to work ok.

You won't be able to re-fit the engine cover either unless you "relieve" it.

Damn it! You've been spying on me again .....grrrrr!

Back on-topic: I managed to get a clip that was just right for the sensor opening ... but as yorkie says: the engine cover doesn't clip back down at the top corner ... trimming the opening can cure this a little...

Totally normal mark! Mine is exactly the same. Makes the engine cover pop off all the time :(

I'm not sure the photo shows just how bad the angle is. Looks quite different to the one in pictures on GrahamS4's gallery.

I also looked at the one fitted on JimboGrey's car and his sits level.

I'm getting it replaced anyways... see what the next one looks like!
