For the record I like understeer... predictable and perfectly safe. I am not out to set lap records between my home and the office, so I love my barge
Is the B5 S4 a lardy barge ? - vote & discuss
RE: no way
M5 is comparible to the RS6... so not really a fair comparison. I refer to the S4 as a barge more down to its poor standard suspension and brakes. The M5 can toast most things round a track... so although heavy, I wouldnt call it a barge. When I think barge I think understeer. Think Quattro think understeer.

RE: no way
Here here! Totally good call there fletchie - I didn't vote either as I concluded that none of the proffered options were suitable - my car certainly does NOT feel like a barge ...fletchie55 wrote: couldnt see appropriate option to vote, so I didnt

RE: no way
OK, I've added MCB's option of: No – do not consider an S4B5 to be a ‘Lardy barge’

RE: no way
Me too, my s4 never felt like a "lardy barge" at all, in fact it was very reassuring drive and you had to try REALLY hard to upset it maybe you had a lemon or something?
RE: no way
I already voted for don't care, but would have gone with the new No option.

Consider the B7 RS4 is 1650kg and it;s direct competitor the 997TT weighs in at 1585kg, I personally think Audi ahve done a great job in keeping the weight down on the R8.shineydave wrote:S4 - 1570kg

i was actually being kind to the R8 by posting the Avant weight for the S4. 1540kg for the saloon although i suspect it's not all about weight but suspension control, power/weight ratios, center of gravity, track and wheelbase etc and even down to how the controls feel and respond

Lardy barge .....mine no!!
Had arun in with a wrx Sti 2.5 the other day, not too many twisties but a couple of roundabouts on the way and really i beat him fair and square. now admittedly my car has a decent suspension set up and some serious AP Racing brakes and has been RR'd at 340+ but i really thought that he would do me for weight.
so i checked and it seems that scoobies are getting a little lardy too nearly 1500Kg's.
i have never driven a standard S4, but from all comments i have reasd i dont think i would enjoy it!!
lardy barge............standard probably yes!!!

If you think your car is lardy invest in a set of H&R ARB's and upgrade your brakes...
Milltek dual cat-back, gutted downpipes, ECS Tuning stage3 brakes, MRC custom map, H&R ARBs.
