Did mine on the driveway - jacked the front up and put ramps under the wheels. Main thing to be aware of is supporting the transmission housing when you take off the 2 factory-fitted transmission suspension plates (triangular shaped metal plates on either side of the car) as the trans housing will drop when these come off. I used a jack to hold it in place. You'll see when you get the thing; it's all clearly described in the instructions. But as stated above make sure the threads are good on the 2 holes in the g/box before attaching the rubber bush - try putting the bolt in on it's own first and see how far it will screw in - if not very far then spray WD-40 into the holes and gently re-cut the threads till the bolt goes in fully - when you've done that then take the bolts out and attach the rubber bush....etc.

Sorry for being abit of a div, but can someone briefly explain the advantages of the DTS? is it for dampening? I have noticed the DTS topic come up a few times so i assume its a bit of a must have mod to do. Going to Nurburg next summer so wanna make sure i have the car running tip top by then.

Cheers

DTS stands for drive train stabilizer.

You must surely notice the kangarooing effect when changing gears. The gearbox moves back and fourth and makes a very uncomfortable soind. The DTS is basically a special metal shaped bar that bolts the drivetrain to the car to minimise the the kangarooing effect of the drivetrain. This provides a more solid gear change without the jerkiness as well as putting less pressure on where the drivetrain is secured.

From the site

The AWE Tuning Drive Train Stabilizer (DTS) eliminates the excessive engine and transmision torsional movement found in these vehicles. The results are phenomenal throttle response, crisper and more precise shifts, and more power to the ground.

So am I right in thinking there is a bar there as standard, justnot as beefy as the DTS, or the bar that is there doesn't connect to the gearbox?

The small black bar that's there doesn't clamp up to the gear box - it's like a cross-brace, but doesn't stop any g/box movement....
