You definitely DO! Lots of folk here seem to have got theirs off e-bay - cheap ones but apparently ok. Others have "adapted" their stock one (search the forum for details). I got a B&M s/s which is really nice (not cheap) and was a doddle to fit (from an autoparts web shop - can't remember which). If you haven't got a DTS already get one of them too - works brilliantly in conjunction with a shortshift stick...

I was happy with my "cheap" ebay one. It really helps you feel more connected to the car and makes the car feel like a sporty car. For £35 off ebay, what have you got to lose!

my ebay one is fine btw... its notchy, but so was my original shift. I would probably suggest medium setting if you are particularly fussy. Most seem happy with theirs on short as I m :)

Just for the record - wasn't taking a pop at the cheap e-bay s/s - it was meant relatively, i.e. the e-bay s/s is cheap in PRICE relative to the B&M, Tanoga, ToyGuy etc etc.....didn't mean cheap as in crap!!!!

Anyway - GET ONE! (+DTS)

I'm still asking myself the same question. I love the lazy gear throw but somehow I'm becoming convinced that it would be better to be a bit more connected. I've only ever driven s4 woody's and that was a while a go. Anyone willing to help persuade me with a quick test drive. I'm in South-West London or Kent.

Mines still sat on my desk at home.

A little worried about making reverse and second a pain. Is this likely just to be an adjustment error or are they all like it?

Once you've done it (and got used to it) and then drive another S4 with the OEM Pudding Spoon, you'll wonder how you ever managed before

I've had no problems whatsoever with my "not from e-bay" s/s - wasn't "cheap" though - reverse and 2nd slip in nice and easy  - but you gets what you pays for IMO...
