Or were you joking?
Simon - I was being serious, it is not something I have even considered (or bothered) to look at....I'll need to get a torch out now...

My post was more towards the pump actually not working as opposed to leaking. Is there any obvious way to tell?

Not sure about being able to tell if it is working, you can here it when you shut the engine off, but that does not necessarily mean it is pumping.

Possibly, mine was leaking since before Christmas, I was topping it up every two weeks. Took me till last week to find where it was coming from.

Best way to see it is looking from the right hand side, and underneath the back of the Y pipe.

a long screw driver or extension to your ear and resting on the pump should tell u if its working..well making a noise anyway..just cos they leak dnt mean they dnt pump..

very nice job love DIY...

also looks much easier than your regular water pump change that hangs off the engine front and is pulley driven like on my old BM.

Simon top post :D

I'm no mechanic, but I'm always up for DIY. Recently got my S4.. I'll let you guess the colour

Had good weather so this afternoon following your instructions etc for removal you were spot on m8 :D Mine didn't appear to be leaking but I thought about lack of sleep wondering what if hehe.. and plus with the missus watching crap on TV.. once the kids are in bed what better way to spend an evening.

Thx,
Nige

Would it be the aux pump I can hear running when I park the car up this hot weather?

Cool, at least I know its working then. This must be the pump that runs longer with the after run pump mod...
