up rated side mount intercooler B5 Rs4 MTM Sportec Dahlback

not meaning to say Rs4 and there like inter coolers are not good enough, as they clearly are according to Awe and for any one up grading from s4 you can be sure you are getting a superb improvement.

That said many rs4 owners feel the need to up grade.

I would love an fmic but so many people have gone this route and had to butcher the front end throwing up many new cooling issues and altering the ease with which the front end works. I do not want all the issues an fmic will bring. (but I still may surcome)

I know there are 2" of extra width not utilised by the rs4 intercoolers on the outside of the bumper, as I currently run a 2" brake duck cooling hose down this gap

So based on my own knowledge regarding the width and the dimensions of the intercooler Awe have made, it is lightly you could widen the rs intercooler to 11.5 inches and lengthen it by 2 inches as the top and bottom of the Awe clearly show that the rs pipes on the rs intercooler come out in a more efficient way thus allowing for more improvement on design.

I believe Sportec did bigger Rs side mounts can any one help with this? Supplier Cost and dimensions.

Also Dahlback appear to have a solution and I expect this is also utilised by mtm, but I cant find any info from the net. Again Supplier Cost and dimensions if any one can help.

Here are the big babies on the 570 bhp Dahlback car. Huh...

Beacause it's early days, so I don't have much to tell. These will probably not fit the S4 unless you have an RS4 bumber and IC pipes BTW.

The AWE IC's are something like 57% larger core surface area than stock RS4 - is this not big enough for you? How much bigger are these bad boys..?

I think the AWE coolers are good but they get their surface area from being deeper which isn't all good, the air getting warmer as it travels through the fins. I think these guys are wanting a larger frontal area...

When I was reading the AWE site, I got the impression (from AWE's own tests) that the AWE ones are only marginally better than OEM RS4 - is that correct?

Yes, I'd like to better understand what is going on here.

Although the RS4 IC's are only 6%(?) larger than S4, the RS4 IC pipework is larger resulting in better flow? The AWE pipes are same size as S4.
The pipes on this look RS4 size...

David,

The AWE site shows some pretty impressive graphs, but I'm not sure what to conclude from them, to be honest...

I've got the Sportec IC dimensions at home - I will post them tonight, but they are defo wider and taller than the RS4 units and a little bit deeper too.
