S3 Big Turbo (Downpipe Info needed)

Post by 242spot » Sun May 14, 2006 3:51 pm

Hey guys just a quick question about downpipes.
I have got a new turbo coming from ATP in the Sates (http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merch ... Code=VVWTK)

As most of you probably know the miltek exhaust does not include a downpipe. The only option i can find is APR on awesome GTI. But at 1000 Pounds its on the steep side.
Does anyone have some info on 3" downpipes for the standard configuration turbo mount.
Cheers
Will keep you posted on how the turbo goes!!
Scott

Yip that right the best things about the eliminator is that with some slight plumbing changes it bolts straight on!!

Thought a high flow manifold was a must for turbo upgrades??? Jabbasport supply Cosworth with them for their 300bhp 1.8t lumps

Yep standard manifold is crap, even the k03 turbo car manifolds are better,it will restict the turbo.
Mine has the jabbasport manifold and your right cosworth do buy it from them and have tested it.

How much is the manifold? Should I pop one on mine with a standard exhaust or save for a Miltek system and do the lot together?

Ryan what year is your baby?

Mine is a 1999. You only need this manifold if you are fitting a ihi turbo, standard exhaust is a waste of time with a big turbo, some miltek's are restictive too.
What is your plan?

Ok to those of you who have aftermarket maniforlds the only reason you have them is to MATE the turbo up. The flow of the mainfold is really irrelevant in this application. This Information comes from my friend @ garret who spends his time testing things like this.

Im not going to use the turbo that ATP spec, my friend has custom spect a slightly smaller unit. The ATP one is to big .....TO much lag.
The smaller one wont push 400bhp like the ATP can, but it will give me a useable 310-330bhp for1/4 the price of MTM.
Of course bigger injectors and im thinking of using a MOTEC ECU which wont come cheap but is the best on the market.
Cost dont know yet...... mates rates

Fair enough, was just trying to get some idea, as I'd like some more grunt in my S3.

Not sure if the 2007 R1 on this weeks MCN cover is the way forward though :)
