RE: cold air intakes for rs4?
Stay away from the BMC for the RS4, it flows less air than the stock airbox.

I have a BMC.... Not had any issues. Which block should I log?

003 for MAF and timing or 002 for MAF and injection period I think (S4). I have only

RE: cold air intakes for rs4?
Interesting you should say that minhea,i'm running the standard airbox on my s3 and steve reckons it's more restrictive than his itg induction kit ,but have been told by another tuner that a oiled foam filter is a big no-no.

RE: cold air intakes for rs4?
@Ryan: I'm not getting into the tuner flame war where one says that what others use is cr@p or whatever. Sorry.
RE: cold air intakes for rs4?
Just interested to know your thoughts on the stock airbox?Do you think it is a major restiction ,steve reckons you got good gains from using the itg kit. Power on the vf34/20 above 1.5bar boost seems to be really dictated by the compressor wheel and the amount of backpressure and heat generated.I will be ditching this turbo soon for a larger variety and wanted to know you thoughts on induction. Not interested in flame wars etc ,i have mentioned no names.

Re: RE: cold air intakes for rs4?
I am running a cold air intake put out by a guy in the states, X-1 intake, you can find him on the Audiworld boards. First mpression was a slightly beter throttle response but is also adds a tad more noise, more so on my car with a vented hood. Some folks don;t tlike the extra noise. It uses a oiled foam filter as well, ITG filter. It has not ruined a maf sensor yet after about 3K miles but I expect it will at some point. I am looking into a filter sold here in the US made by a firm called AEF or AFE, they sell a paper filter similar in design to the K&N but touts better flow and none of the oil issues associated with ruining maf sensors. FWIW I flowed the same gps @ 401gps peak on my setup that another person did with the same code and engine on a stock rs4 airbox with a sight mod to the box.Ryan_s3 wrote:Just interested to know your thoughts on the stock airbox?Do you think it is a major restiction ,steve reckons you got good gains from using the itg kit. hope this helps.

Re: RE: cold air intakes for rs4?
Yip, know someone that lost 10kw with one installed on an RS4. Naturally it was then removed.S2tuner wrote:Stay away from the BMC for the RS4, it flows less air than the stock airbox.
