What is your peak MAF reading?

Post by ZeroK66 » Mon Apr 03, 2006 12:08 pm

This is a good indication of power surely? What is yours (If Known) and what are your mods?

Mine is as per my signature - 262.

Cheers,
Leon

Revo cars run an artificallially higher MAF reading due to them applying a multiplier high in the revs.

Who told you this? I'm curious, as I've not seen anything which indicates that my MAF readings are high...

http://badger.ing.me.uk/vagcomlog.html

is a log from last year, since doing that have made a couple of changes (air filter, fuel, and also boost + timing settings on the SPS), which have reduced my FATs time, and increased my maf readings from ~256g/s, to ~264g/s

I was told by the guys at Revo (Mitchell + Kev) when there (my car was used to help iron out an issue which sometimes occured on S4s), that as a result of the revised map using less boost than some other tuners, and more timing, that I could easily end up with slightly lower MAF readings when comparing logs with others...

Perhaps they removed this multiplier when they revised the remaps?

Returning to topic, 264-265g/s is what I'm normally seeing with:

Revo, Full milltek, green panel filter + drilled airbox.

thanks

Andy

Andy - I was shown the map of the revo code and there was a multiplier at high revs. I think my car was reading 265 odd with revo and running same boost and similiar timing, it was down to about 250 odd. No big deal, its how they tune their chips I suppose.

The dealer advertised the car is 310BHP - given the ex-owner worked for that dealership I can only assume that this is correctish. With a reading of 257 Mihnea recons I was getting between 305&310HP - so about right.

MTM quote 306BHP for their chip + an exhaust - I would expect 310ish. With the cats gutted I was hoping for something closer to 330ish :( (Estimated MAF reading of 275??)

Of course MAF reading is not the be all and end all of estimated power. What the cars map/chip does with the timing can make a fair difference to what power you see from that amount of air. Agressive timing could see another 10BHP+ from the same amount of air vs a conservative map/chip's timing.

Simon - you effectively have the same mods my car did. Interesting. Have to get in touch if we are ever near one another geographically.
