SD cards, RNSE and how to make it all work

Post by Oli » Tue Jan 20, 2009 10:16 pm

Right, I have tried searching but to no avail.

I want to buy some SD cards, 4gb, but all I can find are SDHC - Anyone got a link to the correct ones please??

How do I then convert my itunes to MP3 and transfer to the cards - I don't think my laptop has an SD card slot??

Thanks muchly, and sorry for being such a div!

So..

did you buy the songs off Itunes? or rip them yourself?

If you bought them off Itunes you may have to upgrade to the + DRM free versions to convert them to MP3 (itunes will let you (advanced, create mp3 version))

Then use a USB reader with your SD cards to write the files

A decent deal:-

Or try http://www.mymemory.com for cheap SD cards. Some deals on there will aslo provide you with a free USB2 SD card reader

Like said if downloded i-Tunes you will need the software upgrade, if ripped from CD you can go into the Options tab / menu and select that files are saved in MP3 format rather than IIRC .wav and then they will be read by your RNS-e unit.

Not that I've done it (and technically I think its illegal), but couldn't you run the files through an "aac2mp3" converter? I think iTunes downloads aac/m4p files?

Would that be cheaper?

FWIW.

I'm not on my home PC but IIRC there are tabs at the top next to 'File', one of them may be 'Tools', the select 'Options and under that a central box should appear to allow you to select 'Media Format'

It's a while since I did it and on an old version of i-Tunes so apologies if it has changed a lot but that is a generic guide that should work.

When you are in your song list, select a song, right click and select 'Create MP3 version'

Also for future imports;

Go to 'Edit'
Select 'Preferences'
Click on 'Import Settings' Tab
Select 'MP3 Encoder' on the 'Import Using' drop down list.
Click 'OK' and 'Ok' and you are done.

I don't think so, perhaps do the set up as indicated first and it then might give you the option.
