I will not go with them but what I would like if BM had LED bulb to replace our existing running light bulbs. They seem just like a rear tail light bulb so theres bound to be a replacement . to clarify - Im referring to the main lamp unit not the lower LED strips!

I took out one of the DRLs and it is a regular 12v 21w bulb. Have asked BM if we can get LED version and also LED rear indicator bulb. These I will change but I will def not go with the front LED strip.RS4-Chew wrote:It was only a matter of time before it was mentioned...

You need a LED bulb that takes as much current as a normal bulb (often done with an additional resistor in parallel), otherwise the bulb failure warning will go off.17-APG wrote:I took out one of the DRLs and it is a regular 12v 21w bulb. the resistor needs to make an approx 1W LED take enough current to "fool" the bulb failure system that it's a 21W bulb - so the resistor has to dissipate 10-20W, so it's gonna get hot.P_G wrote:Also you have the get the right resistor; some reported the resistor getting so hot it melted the headlight access cap!

Well, just to update everyone, BM are getting me LED bulbs which will hopefully be a direct replacememnt for the standard 12V21W bulb that is used for this ( I took one out to check at weekend) I will let everyone know when I get them.RS4-Chew wrote:"I" wouldn't - just a topic of discussion as we were on about rear LEDs in another thread
