F-Hose delete

Post by tdiquattro » Sat Jul 14, 2007 3:47 pm

Chaps,

Been thinking about this for a while, would this work?...

Would it affect the operation of the N249?, if not isn't it a very simple solution.

The bleeder valve assembly is already there, just behind the F-hose, just needs relocating, the f-hose feed pipe just needs cutting off and replacing with a short section of pipe, and you need a t-piece in the line to the N249, easy.

I plan to get the bits and do it if no-one can see a problem, the VAG front hose to go where the f-hose is now from the later 2001.5 models is
part no. 078 133 784 BG. a suitable T-piece is 044 127 563 A .

What do you think? (would cost less than a Samco F-Hose).

Yea, I'm interested actually.

Any views on this please?

I'm surprised S4TAN hasn't had a go at this yet...

I'm watching with interest .... but looks like an awkward place to get to in the engine bay (and i've had no trouble with my f-hose since sticking a Samco version in)

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly does the f hose do?

It would seem the number one culprit for turbo failure, how does it cause that?

Seems fine, it isn't difficult, about a 15 minute job when I have sorted the parts and how to, just remove the y-pipe to give access, cut the hard crinkle hose that feeds to the f-hose (just after the curved bit, leaving a 20mm length of the smooth bit to push the bleed valve on to, move the bleed valve back, and fit a t-piece. The bleed valve fits perfectly over the cut crinkle hose and then you need a reducer from the 10mm end of the bleed valve to the t-piece hoses (8mm ID) I think I have the right VAG hoses sorted, once I have it tidied up I will post a how to.

I have used odd vag hoses at the mo to make the connections, but I have the correct front one on order, part number above.

I cant see why it should be a problem, I will report back after some use.

looks really easy on the engine in the picture..considering its out the car..
what did you do with the F hose joint at the front of the manifold..
and why dont you do the N249 delete that most have done...
the crinkle type spider hose is a major cause for concern when there brittle..they can split easily and cause boost leaks..
