Lol, wrong way round for valve overlap, that's unburnt fuel air mixture down the exhaust. Soz.

Or just air on an FSI depending on fuel timing on these engines. It'll be on the piston upstroke at some point I would guess, but earlier than a ci engine. I'll look in to it and get back.

On a serious note, fuel injection will occur when the exhaust is closed, to prevent unnecessary losses - one of the ways these engines increase efficiency.

So direction injection (as name suggest) never wets the inlet. The inlet just gets hammered by 'zoorst blowby, hence carbon build up?

Absolutely. Everywhere I look has a different take on fuel timing. Some say in piston down stroke, some say upstroke and others again say two sprays at different stages, one of which happens at near tdc like a ci engine. I'll ring the designer once I got their number lol.

That's my understanding... On non GDI engines, there's always a little fuel left hanging around the inlet valve that aids valve washing. I believe however some manufacturers (toyota maybe?) ended up with a dual system, where a central injector adds fuel to the inlet charge, compounded with DI to add the main fuel mix.

Sounds like a total fud of a system to be honest & I'd wager a coked up GDI engine performs worse overall than a standard system.

They already know their engines are full of cack. Don't need me to tell them they've got more problems than a copy of Womens Weekly. ;)

Some of them are, um how to put it, a little touchy on the subject. :)

My mate dyno'd his B7 and got 369PS. :drink:

Yeah, mentioning dyno numbers ALWAYS goes down well... throw in some 3rd gear pull timing and quarter times for the biggest shitstorm ever, the forum will meltdown, again.
