Not really. Check under the expansion tank to start with. There are 4 bolts total, but my mate's was clunking from there.

I normally try and find a socket that's got the right diameter. You won't be able to use the flange, you'll need something that is exactly the same diameter as the oil seal.

An Audi mechanic adviced me to place the seal at a different depth to avoid it touches the flange at the same spot as the old one, but i doubt it will make a difference. Let alone the seal wont hit the part on which it should be pressed against...

...i cant feel there is, probably got polished after friction with the seal part. like on the bearingside on the flange, you can see where it touched the bearings side, but cant feel it (green Arrow)...
