580PS RS6

Post by Doug_S2 » Sat May 08, 2010 5:37 pm

Bolt on Hybrids, Manifolds, full exhaust and Wagner ICs.

More can be had if intake temps were lower on the dyno - better ICs or water injection.

Don't expect more torque than a tuned rs6 as it is held back a lot. It pulls hard to high revs. It will pull to 7k - just got the gearbox chip to tweak to do that.

These are the k06 wheel hybrids with hotside mods so I doubt there is more to be had out of these flow wise. Just a manual box will make it feel better!

Mechanical boost as provided by the wastegate springs only, i.e. ECU boost control circuitry "disconnected".

So what is the boost measured then? I reckon it would need to be 1.2-1.3 bar at peak to get these figures (?) but can these hybrids hold that boost for the full rev range as I notice the torque curve drops off after 4700?? Have you changed the head gaskets as I think the MTM stage 4 580hp conversion changes these.

I would also like to know the boost pressure across the rev range. I am fairly confident if the OEM actuators are retained and unmodified the boost will be at most 0.9bar at redline.

Turbo dyanamics in the UK is who will be performing the upgrade on my turbos with the addition of custom made actuators with a base pressure of 0.8-1.0bar compared to the 0.4bar the OEM units.

the torque drop off is not as severe as the graphs shows - the lower scale of torque on the right side does not start at 0.

boost isn't everything and we try to make the engine as efficient as we can instead of forcing it. We use tubular manifold, good exhaust, thick headgaskets, better ICs and the next stage is a better intake system to test to get it higher.
