Possible flywheel problem?

Post by BBJ » Thu May 06, 2010 7:03 pm

Hi guys,
long time lurker, 1st time poster here.

Unfortunately my B6 has developed a deep rumble/vibration throughout the rev range. Performance seems unaffected though. Having read through some threads it sounds a bit like a Dual Mass Flywheel problem, do these symptoms sound about right?

If it does turn out to be the DMF i've found a company that sells a Single Mass version for £260 here http://www.delta-performance.com/dvg-au ... -p-82.html. Would it be a better idea to fit one of these rather than have another DMF fail in the future. (I love the car and don't see myself selling it any time soon)

Cheers

John

Sounds like it may be the FW separating.

You'd want to keep the DMass one to minimise the shock transmitted through it

JHMotorsport do an RS4 clutch and FW kit that's highly rated that quite fancy

Electrical connection loose or faulty to an engine mount. Should show up on a scan

B6s don't have a dual mass flywheel.

B6s don't have a dual mass flywheel.
Is that definate?

Also, forgive my ignorance but why does an engine mount need electrical connections?

I'm sure they are dual mass

the engine mounts are hydraulic and have a solenoid, when on throttle they stiffen up
