Flashing Engine Light?

Any help greatly appreciated gents

Recently had a steady engine warning light appear, turned out to be hall sender was duff. had it changed today, fault codes cleared, mechanic took it for a drive and all looked well, no light and no fault codes.

About 10 miles down the road the engine light starting flashing then went out. a couple of miles later and it starting flashing again and then went out. popped out a little later on and the same problem. cant get access to vagcom again til wednesday. any ideas?

whats the significance of the flashing rather than the steady light?
