So I have a cold and I'm at home. Thought this would be a good time to find the dremel and the soldeirng iron, which I did.

First, if you look at the last picture of the fascia, you'll see the "prongs" on there that clip in to the cage in the car. These were just in the way and needed to come off.

Dremeled those beauties off and trimmed a lot of excess plastic off, which seems to be hard to trim small very detailed parts with a dremel, it just wants to melt everything! :boohoo:

I then reused the bits that I chopped off, trimmed them down and used them to hold the nexus in place. Plastic welding is fun!

I have tidied it up, and it needs some last bits of sanding and minor filling to touch up now. Tidied up the plastic welds too, now they're strong enough.

Just want to get some single sided black/grey foam, you know that comes on a roll? No idea where I would get that out here! That will tidy the edges as well as keep the tablet nice and tight in there and stop rubbing/ damage.

I've now taken apart a couple of magnetic cupboard door latches which I'm going to fit the magnet in to the top of the fascia to use to keep it tightly in place.

On we trott! :beerchug:

If you make all the trim tidy it's gonna be aces.

Especially with that Torque app showing real-time data.

Looking good. :)

How are you welding the plastic? Ultrasonically?

With an ultrasonic soldering iron, shop! :biggrin3:

Or, as you and I know it, a soldering iron and some off cuts of plastic. You're basically just melting the two bits together with a bit extra to give it strength. Back in my golf owning days I did a lovely MK3 front bumper and took out the plate recess and the fog sections with the same method. Very therapeutic. :drink:

Had a couple of deliveries today.

Hotchkis RS4 arb kit, JHM shortshift and snub mount bush, or whatever it's called. Arrived in under 48hrs from the US!

And my door handle arrived... although it's not perfect, which I was hoping, it is a lot less worn than the current item.

Just 1 - the only French toilet paper that you don't put your finger through immediately.

What you chatting about?

A side note about French bog roll... they have a thing here called the aqua tube, which is a bog roll you can flush down the toilet when you're done. Genius. I bet the inventor wasn't French, they can't have been.

Haha I just got it. You're a fan of just 1, then? Connoisseur of French toilet paper I see!

I'm sure the last thing you wan to talk about is bog roll.

Did JHM supply the Hotchkis? Were they competitive? What about customs, etc?

I dunno, bog roll is one of my many mastermind specialist subjects.

Well, 380 dollars plus the short shift and bush was like 870 dollars. FedEx man stung me for 170 Euros. All inc delivery. Which is about £670 all in. For all three things inc delivery I think that's OK, right? Meh. It was worth it or the speed. Its like snail mail over here!

Great build going on there mate, quite captivating. Does the Nexus 7 also work as a radio and how is it all powered up?

If you ever have to send anything, I recommend envoimoinscher.com. Much cheaper than la poste, and much better service.

Cheers, Colin. It should work as a tuner (I have an FM radio app which requires the headphones plugged in) but I'm going to have to do some playing to get it to play the radio properly. Haven't tested it fully yet. We will see! Radio round here is pretty awful anyway unless you like the dulcet tones of German spitting at you.

Thanks, Shop! I'm going to bookmark that swine. Anything has to be better than La Poste!

This week I'll fit the short shift and if my audi stereo removal keys arrive, actually try and get this in place and a bit further on. So, probably achieve <beep> all then.

Apparently getting reverse to engage smoothly takes a bit of fine adjustment (I had my garage do it to save me getting pissed off with it) but JHM have installation videos on their website which explain everything.
