Here is another ... http://forum.rac.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1863&page=2
Cat B is where the vehicle is no longer safe to put back on the road and must be broken or crushed. These can oly be sold to registered dismantlers with an EPA waste licence. They are actually sold as parts and are no longer considered as a vehicle. There is no economic consideration involved, purely a safety one. Vehicles that have been flooded are normally written off as a cat B.
Busy afternoon here :P

I am from the States, I have a 02 S4 avant. I was wondering if I would be able to "swap" all of my seats out and put in RS4 seats. If this is possible let me know because I am very interested in RS4 seats and I am willing to purchase them.

This is corret, all the rules changed a few years back to eliminate ringing, only registered breakers can have this car now and break it only!

If it would have been a cat c or d you've have had first refusal on it!

I will be talking to them tomorrow.

Kind Regards

Not being funny but the Numbpties on the end of your insurence companies phone line know less than feck all about what happens to a car after an accident! :(

If they thought it was a cat c or d you would have got the option BUT cat b or break only is different story!

Good luck on getting a decent payout what with the current climate and car prices have dropped recently. Well worth sending them some information about current vehicle prices from say Nick J's list to get a better payout price.

I always find as many adverts for similar cars (mileage, year etc) and send them along with my claim. very difficult for them to argue if you are looking at specific examples to replace
