Newbie Coming Across
Upgrade time is here and awaiting 54 plate S4 Cab in Sprint blue, is there anything i should look out for and what is the general preference between tiptronic or manual
RE: Newbie Coming Across
hi Dom, I have a S4 saloon, non cab, with the manual box. I have to say that the *one* thing I don't like about the car is the gearbox/clutch; the bite is very high and it took me several months to get it right - even now I still sometimes blow it and do a 'standing stall'.
I also feel that 2nd and 3rd are a bit 'crunchy' , particularly if I do a fast change. Unfortunately when I do a slow change it all meshes OK, so I'm sure I wouldnt get any joy about complaining to the stealers under warranty
So, in hindsight I wish I'd at least tried a tiptronic. I prefer manual driving, but if the tiptronic was really good I could well have been persuaded. But I do recommend that you scrutinise any manual box you test drive........

RE: Newbie Coming Across
I've got a manual Avant and Cab. The gearbox suits the car well and I ca't get on with auto boxes on fast cars on windy roads (fine on A's and M'ways).
PM if you want some advice on prices...oh, and with the Cab I would always have heated front seats and eaer parking sensors. Apart from that they are well equipped with leather/alcantara as standard.
PS I had a B5 S4 Avant for five years - great car but the B6's blow it away for handling.

Maserati GranTurismo GTS Auto, S3 Sportback, TT2 3.2 Roadster, Disco3 for the heavy stuff.

Guys, thanks for the advice, I am after a s4 cab in sprint blue, comfort pack, rns, parking, cruise, full leather, heated seats, and pref phone prep
I have now driven both the tiptronic and the manual and loved them both so just awaiting what the dealers can find for me

Both the Tip and the manual (Once you get use to the clutch) are great but in a cab maybe the tip wins in favour of those long summer cruises........
If it aint broke then dont try to fix it!
