vag com help

Post by GrimReaper » Fri Feb 24, 2006 8:15 pm

Got a few codes that need deleting but can't seem to find the vag com port. Have searched the car high and low and its driving me crazy so help is needed. Knowing my luck its really obvious with a day glow arrow pointing to it  Its a facelift version if that makes a difference.

Cheers.
Steve

open the rear ashtray, it's under a sliding cover to the left of the tray, little electrical symbol embossed on the cover

Balls i was hoping you wouldn't say that. I saw the symbol and lifted the cover up and its just a hole dunno if someone has pushed it down through or something. Also what connector does it use as i have the obd 2 connector left over from my Leon. Looking at the hole though my lead connector is way to big, is there a converter that attaches to the obd 2 or do i need another lead.

What car do you have? Some cars have the connector next to the driver's side knee bolster.

Take a look at http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/dlc.html

AmD remap, APR R1 DVs, APR bipipe, Full Miltek exhaust
H&R coilovers, AWE DTS, Porsche front brakes, Short-shifter, 18" RS4 replicas

I have a facelift S4 (B5 MY00). Will try the obd 2 connector tomorrow when i unscrew the the centre consol to find where the hell the vag connector as gone. Its defo located next to rear ashtray as its got the engine symbol stamped on the sliding cover. Think some one has pushed it it through though as there is just a hole where it used to be.

You can pull the ashtray out and see pretty much everything there is to see!

Finally got hold of it. Had to unbolt the rear end of the centre surround so i could lift it up enough to pop it back into the hole. Got the Vag-com to work aswell. The prob i found was that i tried the OBD 2 connector just on the hole b4 i put the Vag-com socket back in place and it wouldn't fit so assumed that it was the connector being the wrong size. When i replaced the Vag-com socket into the hole i noticed that i did have the right connector but i had to trim about 1mm all the way around the socket so i fit my OBD2 cdonnector. Its all done now so cheers for your help. :D
