Driving mode and engine sound setting
Driving mode and engine sound setting
Hi all,
I am new to the rs6 world so I’m finding out some quirks and perks!
Iv notice that in the comfort setting the exhaust flaps open at around 3000rpm
When in dynamic mode the exhaust flaps seem to be open all the time which seems logical. when I put the car into individual mode with everything set to comfort except the exhaust which I have set to dynamic, the exhaust valves don’t open until 2500-3000. Is this normal or should they be open all the time like the dynamic setting.
Cheers

Hi,
seems right. Works the same way on mine. Either drive it in dynamic all the time or there is a exhaust valve module you can fit wither by Milltek or Akrapovic to have the valves open at any revs

RS6 Performance Ascari blue, Carbon Ceramics, Akrapovic, H&R Anti Roll bars
Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
ok nice one thanks for that.
Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
has anyone tried the 11mode controller? seems a lot less expensive than others i have seen
Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
Well in my case it’s not good, if you set in individual mode exhaust to dynamic it should be open always, as it’s open always when you set dynamic on your mmi, I bet something is not right
P.s I am using miltek non resonated exhaust
Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
Is yours stock map?
What year? mine is 2015

Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
Maybe it’s a software change or something then.
Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
I do agree, if you set it to on then it should be on!
Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
I could try but finding someone decent to ask is always a little difficult.
Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
For anyone who’s interested, I spoke to Chris @ modstock today.
He said the cars ECU software will control the exhaust valves to help with back pressure to reduce turbo lag. I race bikes so I know a fair bit about exhaust back pressures, pulses etc. I agree with Chris and I do think he is right.
It makes complete sense and the ECU might not allow full open valves in individual because of this.
Having it dynamic pushes the rpm higher between gear changes etc and because it’s a mode for harder driving then turbo lag from tick over isn’t a problem.

Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
Well it’s strange…because when you go to individual mode and then go to exhaust mode you have a choose: comfort or dynamic, if you press dynamic valves always open, same as you set it in mmi from main menu

Re: Driving mode and engine sound setting
With mine I have the valves set to open in individual but they will still be shut every time I start it. I have to switch out of and back in to individual to open them.
Hope this helps.
