valve cover bolt replacment

Post by 2014audis8 » Fri May 16, 2025 1:09 pm

Has anyone been able to replace the bolts for the valve cover?
I had one that is almost stripped out and I wanted to replace it before reinstalling everything. But they appear to be encapsulated bolts.
I can not figure out how to remove the bolt itself, or how I would even install the new one.

There is like a sliding collar which is install on the bolt which does not appear to come off.

Any insight into this would be appreciated.

You need to replace the whole assembly. Part number 077103831E. They're not cheap.

yeah so I purchased the whole bolt assembly, (Bolt, sleeve and rubber grommet) but there does not appear to be anyway to remove the screw from the sleeve.
So I am not sure how you are supposed to remove the old bolt assembly from the valve cover and install the new bolt assembly.

Just push the bolts out of the rocker cover. The complete assembly, bolt, sleeve and grommet come out as one piece from the rocker cover with a bit of a push
