Time to depart

Post by stevo55 » Thu Apr 03, 2025 12:46 pm

Alas after around 1 year of ownership I’m looking to move the girl on. This was ‘Matt’s’ old car which needs no introduction on here. A new business venture means I need to get a 4 x 4 to lug stuff around over long distances and the 6 won’t cut it (fuel bills alone would cripple me) and need to free up funds to purchase something more suitable to the task. So unfortunately I now have to part ownership with her. I’ll put up an advert nearer the time (I work overseas a lot nowadays and won’t be back til early May) and test the waters and see what interest there is. Obviously I’d much rather sell on here as it’s a given that she will be well cared for. Matt was so OCD he did everything himself (the binder I have of all his work is crazy) but as he did all his own servicing there are no entries during his ownership in the service booklet. Being hamfisted I had a specialist do the full service last year.
Wasn’t my plan and it’s been a great car to own. I didn’t do many miles frankly as I’m away so much nowadays plus have 3 cars (the R8 hasn’t even covered 3.5k miles in the year I have owned it either). I bought it May last year off Matt at 103k miles and the current is 107k so hasn’t really been used much.
So apart from announcing my departure from C5 ownership it’s also to put a shout out to see if anyone is interested or if you know of anyone?
Will put a post up when I’m back, sad to see it go, this was a bucket list moment for me and now the only RS6 I haven’t had is the current one. What’s been highly amusing is surprising people who think it’s just some old Audi shed that then hitches up its skirt and then deploys all 516 odd BHP (Matt bought it with a Stage 1 Tune and she does shift well) and leaves them for dead. Non Res Milltek is the business as well.

:bash: :assflash:

I’m a poor student these days, I couldn’t afford the fuel bill.
I do still hang around here a bit though, for the rare occasions when I can help with anything parts or diy related.

Hi Matt
Nice to hear from you. Thought you might have been missing her.
What are you doing with all the spare time you now have on your hands ?
Any new projects ?
You could always visit the east coast and give me a hand and share some of your knowledge on the RS6.

Just to round this off the car went on Saturday to a guy I know well through work. His Dream Car and a chance meeting months ago led to that discusssion so he was the first person I approached as I knew it would go to a careful and very experienced (ex Class 1 Police driver - they really do know how to drive a car) owner. I’ve given him the details here so hopefully he will pop up.
Following Matt’s incredible work to date I didn’t want to mess the car up so all servicing and work was done by a specialist. Car was everything I had hoped for and more and I was indeed lucky to come at the right time seeing the amount of ‘this is what’s broken now’ posts on here and elsewhere. Been a privilege to own a legendary car. In decades to come people wont get all teary eyes about the East Asian plastic sh1tboxes you see everywhere now….but they will about iconic cars such as the C5 RS6.
So that’s it! I’m all out of fast metal (R8 went as well) and now looking for a slower 4 x 4 for next venture. I will lurk on here as everyone on here is cool.
Been a pleasure folks, will be back in something tasty at some point that’s for sure.

Thanks Craig I’ve rejoined the group just to add some context. It really is a very well known car it seems and had I put it up on the groups I dare say I would have had brisk trade. Jon is a friend and it is his dream car so I was happy to make him happy! I’ll have to console myself with much slower more modern driving but that’s life (owning fast cars where I live can be frustrating as everyone drives like they are half asleep and its mostly single lane roads).
