TPMS Error Code 01521 after 10mins of driving
TPMS Error Code 01521 after 10mins of driving
Hi All,
I've got a TPMS issue that hopefully some of you guys can maybe help me with.
The TPMS light came on & the error code pointed to the front left, so i got the sensor replaced. The issue seemed to have been fixed with all tyre pressures being displayed on the MMI screen, but 15mins of driving, the TPMS light came back on, but this time, it was a different error code, it didn't point to any sensor, but threw up code 01521 and just stated Tyre Pressure Sensor. Thought the new sensor might have been dodgy, so replaced the front left again with a new sensor, but still this error cide comes up.
When I start the car, no error & all the tyre pressures are showing, but everytime after 10-15mins of driving, the TPMS light comes on & the pressures do not display any more.
Has anyone else faced the same issue & if yes, what was the cause?
Some things i'm thinking it could be:
1. TMPS Control Module
2. ECU error
It seems to be a fault that only occurs after a period of driving, which i'm thinking may have something to do with the control aspect, as the sensors and the system all seem to work fine when you start the car & go for a short drive.
Cheers
Roy

Re: TPMS Error Code 01521 after 10mins of driving
I regularly but at random intervals get two errors:
01467 - Front Left Tire Pressure Sensor (G222)
004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent - MIL ON
and
01521 - Sensor for Tire Pressure
004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent - MIL ON
The FL sensor is the only one which I have yet to replace so I'm not surprised.

Silly question, have you selected "Reset" in the TPMS menu on the MMi after you replaced the sensor?
***OLD*** Daytona C5 RS6 Avant - MRC'd - 500HP & 820NM (PistonHeads Link).
***NEW*** Daytona C6 RS6 Avant - MRC'd - 955HP & 1200NM (PistonHeads Link)

Re: TPMS Error Code 01521 after 10mins of driving
Hi Ian,
I dont have a "reset" option to select. When i go into the TPMS in MMI, i have 3 options,
- display tyre pressures
- store tyre pressures
- Initialise after wheel change
I've tried to Initialise several time, but after each try, the error comes back, as per my initial post. I've also tried to save the new tyre pressures, but again, that doesn't seem to help. I've also ahd my local Audi workshop have a look, but they haven't managed to track down the fault either & they have been using the proper VCDS software.
When you mention to select "reset" do you mean initialise or are you taking about another "reset" option somewhere?
Thanks
Roy

Initialise is the reset option, it causes the TPMS to recognise the sensors (and register new ones) and their locations on the car. Store pressures logs base pressures for each sensor - when (if) a sensor pressure has dropped by a certain percentage (10%? Maybe, I don't know the figure) the TPM unit will throw a warning.
I've done both but neither make a difference to the occurance of the fault. Often I receive a dash warning something like 'TPMS malfunction' and no pressures are displayed. Taking the initialise option will clear it for a while - if I'm lucky. In normal operation sometimes I can see all 4 tyre pressures, other times three are shown with the old sensor displaying nothing.

Interesting, very similar issue - as soon as i click the initialise, all tyre pressures & temps come back & its fine for 10-15mins of driving, then the error occurs again. This happens everytime, so the sensors are working, but i'm just not sure where the fault lies.
Re: TPMS Error Code 01521 after 10mins of driving
Can anyone confirm the MMI control module part number for the 2010 car?
I can see from ebay a normal A6 C6 part number is 4E0035729, but not sure if the RS6 has the name part number or not?
Thanks

Maybe check this one... http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/01521
About the MMI unit if you give me a VIN I can tell you which one you have on your car.
