Re: Swapping RS6 Engine
No, they are not the same. The RS6 has significantly strengthened internals and bigger oil channels, amongst other modifications.
Google "Self Study Program Course Number 991303" if you want an idea of the differences.
You *might* be able to physically fit an S6 engine (not even sure that you wouldn't need lots of mods for the starter and gearbox mounting), but it won't last. Or you could uprate the internals which is $$$.
Keep looking for an RS6 engine is my recommendation.

Re: Swapping RS6 Engine
I tried Cosworth ages ago about spares for these engines but had no luck.
I did find one European supplier with an entire engine but it was about £3000 before shipping. UK sources all seem to be dodgy looking websites with the same template.
They're not easy to replace at all.
What is the damage like? Someone may be able to suggest somewhere that might be able to repair it somehow.
I did find these people that might do the right kind of repairs. They may also know someone more suitable as I don't think 450bhp engines are quite their thing!

Re: Swapping RS6 Engine
There has been a few rs6 c5 cars being broken.
I think there is even 1 or 2 on here in the parts section.

Re: Swapping RS6 Engine
When my old engine was found like this, a search started for a new one. My neighbouring country Sweden
had one available from a crash damaged Plus+ model.
Ironically they have 2 more BRV engines for sale.
I wonder where Slapdash is from?

Re: Swapping RS6 Engine
Do you know what caused the scoring like that @TOPMAN?
Re: Swapping RS6 Engine
The original BCY engine was in quite poor shape. It had done 315K KM (approx 196K miles) and although the service history was good and mostly main dealer, things had started to really fall apart internally. So the bore scoring could have been caused by any of these foreign objects really. This was before my time with the car, and shortly after finding this mess, a well maintenance BRV engine was purchasedFelix2566 wrote:Do you know what caused the scoring like that @TOPMAN?
