Coding a new CCM

Post by Varks » Tue Jan 21, 2025 7:57 am

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a "How to" for retrieving the codes from my current CCM and adding them to the new one? I am unsure what codes i am looking for, i have found a list of the codes for things like alarm, tailgate, auto lock etc but nothing about the hexi decimal code ( i think it's called) for the CCM itself, Is it as easy as doing an auto scan and copying the code associated with the CCM under the part number?
Also am i right in thinking if i go to 35 (Central locking) then channel 21 i can check the matched remotes and can test that they are working, i can then match them to the car if there is a problem?
Bit of background:
I found that the cabin tray was leaking water into the cabin, this flooded the CCM, i have had the interior out and dried the inside, have also now replaced the CCM with one of the same exact part number inc the last letter,
The car unlocks with the key but doesn't unlock all doors all the time, the lock button on the drivers door works but the unlock side doesn't, the alarm goes off on its own unless i keep the doors unlocked, the tailgate has now decided not to latch either,
So i need to code the CCM with the same code as the original (which i hope i can still get access to with VCDS) will try this evening, with the old one plugged in the door locks were going mad and the hazards had a mind of there own, now it's dried out and cleaned up with alcohol, i will try it again,
Then i just need to sync the 2 keys so the fobs work, the previous owner said they were working previously but whilst car was sat for a long time the battery in the car went flat, then on charging found the remotes didn't work,
Anyone recommend a way ahead,

Thanks Varks :drink:

I had some similar issues and would say make sure the batteries in the keys are good and making a proper contact with the battery.

Had issues of the car being disconnected from the battery for a long time and thought it had lost connection with the keys. It hadnt, was just crappy connection between the battery and the contacts inside the fob.

Have you had a look on the Ross Tech site, there are lots of good guides for recoding.

From having done a similar job on my t5 it was as simple as copy and pasting the code from one module to the new one.

This coding will work on your car:

Code: Select all

Address 35: Centr. Locks Labels: 4B0-962-258.lbl
   Part No: 4B0 962 258 N
   Component: Zentralverrieg.,DWA D38
   Coding: 06891
I'm assuming you have a RHD UK spec car.

Make a note of your existing coding first.

Cheers buddy, yeah have spent an hour or so looking through Ross Tech Wiki etc and hopefully i can sort it this evening, will get some new batteries for the fobs, am i right in thinking that the live data will change on pressing the fob buttons if the batteries are good? well i will get the CCM coding done first, hopefully that will allow the central locking to work properly with the drivers lock then go from there, baby steps lol

I doubt you'll see anything in live data before you code the fobs to the car. I would start by deleting the existing programmed fobs in the CCM then using the car's procedure for pairing the keys. It's easier than using the VCDS method.

Shoppinit: is that where you put one key in the ignition turn to position 1 then hold the unlock button on one fob, then the same with the other? i'll do a bit more reading, i did find the procedure on doing it through VCDS,

I did my remotes very recently. First and foremost put new batteries in the fobs. One of the remotes worked and one didn’t.
I followed a procedure from google using VCDS.
Easy to follow guide. Now both remotes are fully working.

If it helps my coding is now 07931 (was 06139). That gives auto locking of the boot and doors, and chirps when locking and unlocking.
Ps. Massive thanks to Ben for helping me with the coding.

Cheers Steve, i will have a play tonight before it gets dark, got the new battery on charge too as that went flat when the CCM got flooded, was brand new, now i don't think it's holding a charge, the guys at Tayna have told me to do a certain charge procedure to get it working again, i'm not holding my breath,

The manual says:
- Press one of the buttons on the remote control key.
- Insert the key in the door lock and either unlock or lock the vehicle once

The resynchronisation process should not take more than 30 seconds
I've got a feeling your method works too, though.

Hi Ben. I tried that on my spare fob. It didn’t work for me hence sorting it with VCDS.

Not sure if I waited 30 seconds though. I can be a bit of an impatient bugger.

You don't wait 30 seconds. You need to complete the operation within 30 seconds.

Thanks all, worked a treat, couldn’t access the old CCM so used the code that Shopinnit posted up, thanks buddy, got one key coded in, the other I couldn’t get to work, so will fit a new battery when I get the chance and try that one again, the button on the drivers door still only works to lock the doors, the unlock button still doesn’t work, so might need to have a look at that, oh and the boot latch works now too 😉 so thanks for all your help guys, that’s why love this site 👍
