Boot lid cabling fog lamp

Fog light stopped working again.
Had to open up the wiring loom and found some more broken wires.
Using the repair kit I bought off eBay. We replaced 9 of the 10 wires. Soldered and shrink wrapped.
For some reason there are 9 wires in the repair kit.
There were 10 wires in the loom.
Hopefully this time lasts a lot longer. Last time we did it the fog lamp wiring lasted about a week.
Noticed the old wires were quite stiff. The new wires are a lot more flexible.
Fingers crossed.

I doubt if I will ever use the rear fog light. But as I found not too long ago it’s a MOT failure.

What’s going on in your boot lid? mice on pseudo-ephedrine?

Hi Ben.
Weaned the mice off pseudoephedrine, I have been putting down methadone for some time now.

I reckon it’s Just wear and tear over 20 years of lifting and closing the boot lid.

Ben. Just checked the internal light switch
With lights full on
Front and rear fog light indicator is amber.

As the respective fog lights are selected the indicators go green.

I think that was what the mot tester was talking about. When he said there was no fog light indicators.
When the lights were switched on the fog light indicators were not on amber. Meaning there was a fault.

Hence it failed the mot.

Sounds like your MOT tester is a jobsworth and possibly not very good. I'd get a new one if I were you.

This is what mine looks like:

Mine are different Ben.
IIRC Mine are both amber when they are off and the lights are on.
Both green when selected.

But I will double check tomorrow.

Ps. You obviously keep your finger nails short to keep the light surround in good condition.
