Complete Front & Rear Brake Calipers, HEL Lines, Brake Discs & Pads
Complete Front & Rear Brake Calipers, HEL Lines, Brake Discs & Pads
ok, so I'm finally onto getting around to doing the Complete Braking setup on the RS.
Got the Brake Calipers refurbed by SSL Autoparts who did a fantastic job, recommended - who blasted them, painted, with new seals, new bleeder nipples etc.

Re: Complete Front & Rear Brake Calipers, HEL Lines, Brake Discs & Pads
thought I had the torque settings written down, but can't find them..
Looking for:
Front & Rear Bolts Torque Spec. securing the Caliper Bracket carrier
Front & Rear Bolts Torque Spec. securing the Caliper to Bracket carrier
Torque spec for the Braking Lines ie. bango bolt brake lines etc.
Tried looking on the forum .. couldn't find the specs.. so any help on the above would be much appreciated!
cheers

Re: Complete Front & Rear Brake Calipers, HEL Lines, Brake Discs & Pads
ok, I believe I've located the Rear Braking setup torque values:
Not sure, so if someone could confirm if these are correct for the RS rears..
also if anyone has the similar pdf for the Fronts.

Nice refurb.
Can take a look at torques tomorrow for you.

Recently did my braided lines too. Brakes feel Great now! Love the firm pedal feel.
I had to bleed mine twice, second time made a big different to the feel, did spot a few bubbles on second purge with pressurised bleeder both times.
Someone else reported bleeding them again after driving it a week and getting the last bit of air out.
I also ran the ABS pump / test sequence in VCDS, apparently not necessary but as id had all the lines off, didnt hurt to give it the best chance of purging.

Re: Complete Front & Rear Brake Calipers, HEL Lines, Brake Discs & Pads
alright.. much appreciated
agree, probably good idea to bleed brakes twice.. how far apart did you do this?
just checking on the Front Calipers - bleed Outer nipple first then inner , correct?
Good shout on the ABS pump / test sequence in VCDS .. I take it , the procedure would be to bleed / purge the ABS pump first, then the brake calipers?
Re: Complete Front & Rear Brake Calipers, HEL Lines, Brake Discs & Pads
Try This:
I just did them a week apart. Took a lot of fluid to get all the air out it felt. Wa ssurprised on second flush how it felt so much better.
I dont recall if i did inner or outer front nipple first.

Re: Complete Front & Rear Brake Calipers, HEL Lines, Brake Discs & Pads
Superb lugars
Interesting that the guide for the "Brake Bleed" pdf states:
Open bleeder screws in the specified order and bleed brake calipers
Bleed sequence for LHD and RHD vehicles:
1 - Front left-side brake caliper
2 - Front right-side brake caliper
3 - Rear left-side brake caliper
4 - Rear right-side brake caliper
I typically have always started at the Rear calipers (starting at furthest point from the Brake reservoir) , so my approach for a complete purge of all the old fluid and any air, would be:
Bleed / purge ABS pump using VCDS -> Bleed clutch / slave cylinder -> Rear left caliper -> Rear right caliper -> Front left caliper outer then inner -> Front right caliper outer then inner
Reckon I would need 2-3L DOT 4 Fluid using gunson's pressure bleeder.
Any thoughts on the above?

Re: Complete Front & Rear Brake Calipers, HEL Lines, Brake Discs & Pads
I used approx 2 litres doing the full flush, would buy 3 as i did incase one corner is stubbourn.
Personally i followed the corner sequence from the workshop manual. Starting with abs pump, clutch, then calipers.
