Bit of TLC
This one still puts a smile on my face.
Owned for 12 years & was due some TLC.
- New discs / pads all round
- New AC condenser
- Exhaust resonator delete
- Wheels refurbed
- Respray of several panels, front bumper and roof
Best she’s ever been, ready for another 12 years of ownership!

Had my wheels done and some minor corrosion issues sorted recently - amazing how much of a difference it makes. Looking good.

Re: Bit of TLC
I'm close to https://platinumalloys.com in Swindon. They do a proper job of stripping them right back.
Re: Bit of TLC
Thanks.
I recently discovered a weld on one of my wheels. I might get a replacement, never really trust a fix.

Re: Bit of TLC
OP - what tyres and spacers are you running? Stance looks great.
Reason I ask is I have 8mm front 10mm rear and the stance was perfect when I had Bridgestones fitted (prev owner). But since swapping these out for brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 5's, the stance has changed. I hadn't considered that a brand with a tyre wall that sits less over the rim would impact the stance so much :s

Re: Bit of TLC
I'm running 8mm fronts & 10mm rears also. I'm on Goodyear Asym 3's. I have Bilstein shocks vs. standard DRC.JRC1 wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 1:41 pmOP - what tyres and spacers are you running? Stance looks great.

Re: Bit of TLC
Nice yeah I'm running KW V3's. Your stance is more pronounced than mine, despite running the same spacers. I will have to look into it. I cannot believe the tyre manufacturer/sidewall can make that much of a difference but it's the only thing I have changed! Both tyres are 255/35/19. Previous were bridgestone potenza and new ones are PS5's.markshepps wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 3:14 pmI'm running 8mm fronts & 10mm rears also. I'm on Goodyear Asym 3's. Re: Bit of TLC
How do you rate he PS5s, and are they 5s or 5Ss? I'm assuming there are two version like with the 4/4S, and I'm still on the latter.JRC1 wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 1:41 pmOP - what tyres and spacers are you running? Stance looks great.

I ask as they haven't yet featured in magazine tests that I've seen - certainly missed out in evo's last year.
EDIT - seems the 5 doesn't have an S version.
Anyone tried the 4 Supersport, and thoughts about how it is in the wet and dry in comparison with the regular 4S?

Re: Bit of TLC
They're amazing tyres. Night and day compared to the rubbish Bridgestones that were on the car before. I've always ran Michelin Pilot Sport tyres on my cars and they have always been fantastic. I couldn't decide between 4s or 5 for the RS4 (I have 5's on my R32), but there's a chap on YouTube that reviews them around a track and the 5 not only has greater longevity, it also offers better wet weather performance. In the dry, around a track, the 4s was ahead but only by a fraction. For me the wet weather performance and longevity outweigh the half a tenth or whatever per second you'll notice around a track that won't be noticeable on a road.12th wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 8:22 amHow do you rate he PS5s, and are they 5s or 5Ss? Camskill is the place to buy them from. I managed to get all 4 for £512 - they often run Michelin cash back promotions.
Re: Bit of TLC
Looks great.
Looking at shops to do my bits of corrosion, front wings, roof, and front bumper, possibly bonnet too.
What wheel colour did you get, looks great, did they apply a standard colour?
Powder coat or spray?
Any particular laquer finish?
I had my wheels done a few year ago at Lepsons, they had standard colours, was never sure if it was close to factory as my wheel had previously been done so never saw the factory colour / finish.
I like the idea of a flat looking silver on the wheels, not metallic.
