after washing it properly, cleaning the wheels thoroghly, cleaning/feeding the leather, wiping the interior trim with carpro perl, cleaning the engine bay.... i'd say its the cleanest and most sorted it's ever been in my care.
when cleaning it i didn't find any major paint scratches i didn't know about. I did find some scuffs on the dashboard trim infront of the instrument cluster.
now i've seen them, i can't unsee them.
i think this happened when the garage fitted the FIS controller for me. lesson learned. no more interior work by anyone but me. i think they scuffed the plstic while refitting the dash.
anyway
having read up online it seems some heat and plastic restorer does the trick. i am thinking a hair dryer + carpro perl (diluted 1:4). i'll take a photo when i have good light. i'm concerned the 'treated' area will stand out against the rest. i'm fortunate my dash is clean other than this.
has anyone here tried something similar?
my glove compartment door is also a fair bit scuffed up. might also try here.

i just looked back at the original sale photos and it's not there.
that means someone did it when they fitted the cluster when they fitted the FIS unit.
i guess i've learned my leason. seems i can't trust the garage not to damage the car. i think i'll do all the interior related work myself so i take the time not to damage things.
gutted the silver lining is i should have taken the time to learn it myself anyway

I decided to give this heat treatment a crack.
the glovebox door was scuffed and a bit more out the way.

i don't I could get enough heat with the hairdryer. i think some of the very light scuffs faded. the plastic didn't get that hot.
i think a lot of the change came from a good clean and the carpro perl silicone oxide treatment. not convinced it'll touch the scuff at the instrument cluster.

Yeah, you'd need a paint stripper, but you'd have to be really careful. I can see why it might work. Small scratches are probably quite "hairy" up close which reflects the light. The heat gun would make them shrivel and make them less visible.
The cleaning product has a similar effect, making them less reflective, albeit temporarily.
