27k mile Avant on Collecting Cars

Post by fmb123 » Wed Mar 20, 2024 12:37 pm

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/200 ... 4-avant-22

I have no connection to this sale, but interested on what everyone thinks this will go for?

not the best interior spec - No FBSW and wood trim. But those can be changed.

Interesting.

I wonder if it would still need work on the DRC, I'm not sure if that's age or milage-related.

It seems to be a trade sale.

Random question, did they ever come with clear glass?

Lovely. Mine is black with tinted, but I think it's less obvious. I'd have clear glass if I could choose.

Super low mileage examples of the B7 more often than not will need a lot more money pumping into them than well maintained higher mileage examples. Sure the draw of a low mileage car will always be there and it would be pretty nice to own a B7 with 20,000 on the clock, but I never fully get the appetite of paying real high money for one. You can almost guarantee this will need DRC repairing or replacing, has probably never had a carbon clean, and has consistently sat for long periods. With an average of 1,500 miles a year I would be amazed if it hasn't got perished rubbers/bushes and a corroded oil cooler. Could well still be on original discs and pads too, etc etc.

I must admit I'm surprised it's already at £27k considering it has the non FBSW and the comfort seats. Buyer will need £5-8k minimum to sort the above jobs and even then you have a very undesirable spec.

Given that sale price, looking back when i purchased mine is 2010, that year and mileage was selling for less back then than it is now believe it or not.

With a higher spec, i purchased mine with less miles for the same money, 14 years ago.

Totally agree with this.

I guess if you get it sorted and keep it low miles it might be a good investment.

Shame not to drive it though!
