Just received my mirror back from Mirror John. One day turnaround. Works great. Thanks

i just spent the last few days attending to a few things on the car.
a thorough clean & condition of the leather... i'll post some before and after to give some of you a reason to spend a few well spent hours.
i also fixed a piece of seat leather that was unclipped and annoying me for ages (since i owned the car). i'll put some pics up also.
readjusted all the seats. took a moment to appreciate how good quality the interior is, and how its the sweet spot of modern, but not too much tech.
then, just a minute later.
what is that.... my second rear view mirror is leaking again?
this car... at that point i just smiled

this is broken right?
any chance it'll leak while i get the original back to the UK and forwarded on to Mirror John?

John has answered my question:

If you still have the old mirror which has not been repaired/refurbished and notice that the dimming feature no longer works, remove it immediately. In my experience, the order of occurrence is:

1) Dimming feature stops
2) Liquid appears behind glass
3) Liquid Leaks & Ruins interior

The time between these steps might be weeks, months, or years, but I would replace it with the first symptoms.

Seems todays RS6 work is not finished.

the moral of the story is to take the time to clean your leather and plastics... they'll thank you for it

100% worth removing as soon as you notice the fade. I got in the car one morning and it looked like someone had opened a can of coke and it had dripped on my dash. Thankfully no damage to the interior other that the soft touch plastic which needed replacing.
Johns mirrors don’t contain a liquid but have a jell base, so will never leak. 😎

🤣 I did taste it at the time (very stupid of me I know) but I can’t remember what it tasted like other than that “oh <beep>, that wasn’t nice and I shouldn’t have done that” taste. You know the one, like the taste of your best mates nans vadge. 🤷‍♂️

This is good to know. Just installed the spare one I bought a while ago. Need to replace my spare now.

Anyone up for another group buy?

I’ve got stock of the glass if you would like to order?

Maybe. I've just broken my windscreen trying to get the mirror back on, so at this point I'm more minded to set fire to the car.
