Hi all, ok so our b8.5 rs4 has no spare wheel.
I have ordered a genuine 19" audi space saver that fits on the back incase of a blow out, but if you have a blow out on the front you would need to take wheel off rear to put on front, and then space save on rear which is ok.
My question is has any one done this using one scissor jack thats supplied by audi in the boot to lift up the one side of the car? Or have you purchased a 2nd scissor jack etc?
Just looking for information etc

I've only went as far as buying a collapsible brace, set of protector sockets, and an aftermarket fag lighter plug in compressor and a bottle of jizz. I try to put a potential flat out of my mind. Depends how much you want to carry in the boot, sorry I can't help but thought I'd mention above. Flat tyres never happen on quiet sunny days on a nice stretch, not with me anyhow.. dunno so much about the switching wheels over, I'd just bung on the spare and get the repair done as soon as possible at a garage.

could you show me a pic of the wheel in the boot? Im not sure it would fit in mine with the battery and other stuff?

It can be done as you can see via my attachment.
Just need to remove the plastic holder for compressor etc and it all fits in as factory etc.
If you have a flat on the front just jack up rear, remove good wheel and put spare on rear, then jack up front and replace etc.
You should still have full tool kit for this from factory in the boot.
So now our b8.5 rs4 has a genuine spare just in case.

Do you have the part no for the space saver rim? Or any offset (ET numbers)? Do you know if it is applicable to any other models? Sorry for all the questions.....!

Do you just remove the plastic bit that hold the jack then? Where do you store the jack?

I've now established the space saver offset no. and rim part no, but they are suffixed with B through to F, but I have not found any info about whether there is any difference between them. Because the RS4 doesn't have a spare, the Audi parts chap just looked at me as if I had two heads when I asked the question

Anyone know?

I thought forums had members of like minded car owners / enthusiasts, who were willing to share helpful advice, but it seems like I have hit a stoney silent brick wall, both in this topic and via a pm.
I appreciate it seems like this forum has gone quiet over the last year or so, but surely RS4 owners still search for answers and that 'bit of banter'?
Anybody?

Hi johnnydog. i agree its difficult but i do think you get a better quality of answers on here compared to Facebook. a lot of the reaons for no response is people just dont know.

I think 'people just don't know' is probably about right here.
From my pov I wouldn't be fitting a space saver wheel on a 450bhp 4wd car, and that probably explains the Audi parts guy's response. A wheel failure could be pretty catastrophic. I understand where you're coming from though, having to rely on an aerosol of sealant seems like trusting too much to good luck. Maybe that's one of the limitations of having a high performance car that owners just have to accept?

My only reasoning to fit a space saver rather than use the can of goo, is that firstly, it knackers the tyre up I believe and is a tyre fitters nightmare. The second reason is that not all puntures are 'slow'; the last one I had was after running over the hook of a wagon strap on the motorway which resulted in an instant flat which a can of goo wouldn't fix anyway. Fortunately, that was on an 2007 S4, which had a full sized spare. With my RS4, I don't fancy being taken (or just the wheel) to any old tyre place and some knuckledragger putting a new tyre on at full cost, with the possibility of rim damage (which has happened on previously). I'd rather source a tyre from my trusted tyre place (which happens to be a rim refurbish place, so they take extra care when removing / mounting a tyre).
If a space saver is fitted, you would obviously drive it like a Nissan Micra, rather than an RS4, but if it gets you (albeit at a slower pace) where you need to be or a tyre place of your choice, I be happier with that option available to me.
I had a B7 before my B8, and now I can't remember for the life of me what type of spare (if any) it had!
