Taking the RS4 off the road this winter. Nothing too long, but probably somewhere between 3-4 months. Car is fully garaged.
I've done the usual:
CTEK charger connected which I will use periodically
Tyres pumped up and sat on carpet/mats
Handbrake off
Is there anything else I should be doing for this period? Admittedly it's not a huge length of time but I've read some people say to start them up once per month, let them idle until engine and oil are fully up to temp. But others have said not to do this as it just causes carbon build up.
Is a few months a short enough period to just do the above 3 things?
Any advice appreciated - thanks
Winter storage
Re: Winter storage
So, our VW Polo 1.2 TSi was off the road for ~18 months.. all I did was disconnect the - terminal on the battery, and left it on the driveway locked-up.
I knew it would be SORN'd for some time.
~18-months later..
Re-charged the 'same battery' overnight, checked / cleaned ALL Battery + GND connections, connected the negative terminal back up, performed a VCDS TBA [Throttle Body Alignment] .. and some basic Engine output tests and ..
the Polo fired up straight away on the 1st TURN!
Our RS is SORN'd but this time hopefully only for around ~3-4 months.. hopefully should fire up straight away in the same fashion.
Personally wouldn't bother firing it up, especially as it will be kept in a garage free from all the elements.
What you have done, sounds like it will be fine to me - as long as your battery remains in good health.
In my view the main thing always - is Visually check / Clean all your Battery + 'GROUND CONNECTIONS' on the vehicle, especially after Winter - this is what typically causes the main issues with Vehicles.

Re: Winter storage
Thanks for your reply. Makes me feel more confident about the steps I've taken and confirms that it's probably unnecessary to start up or do anything else.
The CTEK chargers are really good and keep the battery in great health so no worries there. I will make sure to check the connections periodically though - although I charge via the cigarette port as it is constantly live on the RS and CTEK offer an adapter to charge that way to save faffing about under the bonnet or in the boot
