Rear wishbones

Post by Felix2566 » Wed Oct 11, 2023 2:58 pm

Hi All,

I'm currently in the middle of gathering the parts for a rear suspension overhaul, new bushes/wishbones etc.
I have been able to so far buy everything I need either from Audi, Audi tradition, Autodoc etc. There is one part I cant seem to find:
4B3505311A left lower rear wishbone. I have contacted a few places, but had no joy so far finding any stock.

Number 1 on the diagram https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/aud ... 505/505030

Wondering if any of you have some suggestions or leads on the part?

Thanks

There was a member selling his car on here.
He also had lots of new parts for sale that he had accumulated and selling separately.

Might be worth checking the cars for sale and parts sections for the RS6 C5.

Where are you based? I have a pair of upper and lower wishbones that you’re welcome to collect. They will need powder coating though.

Hi Chris, thanks for the offer I'm after new ones.....as the bushes in mine have had it. Cant buy all the bushes individually sadly. The only aftermarket ones I did find, Febest, were rubbish, not the right size on some of the dimensions....decided its OEM only then

Matt and I are using StrongFlex. I’ve yet to fit them but I believe Matt found them agreeable. 👍

Good to know, seems some parts for these are getting a bit thin on the ground!

I am sure the guy selling his car/parts included rear wishbones and a whole lot more.
If I get chance I will look for his add.

Hi Chris. I don’t have the info.
It was not a breaker.
A guy on this site was selling his rs6 c5 on here.
Or had sold his c5 and was selling a comprehensive amount of spares separately.
I was going to contact him to try and purchase all the rear components including wishbones bushes etc.

I never perused it any further. Mainly due to the huge bills I got for the front end work I had done.
Rad, fans, oil cooler, hoses, steering rack, etc.

Need to check the spares section first and then the cars for sale section.

Managed to get the rear wishbone from the states...

https://www.europaparts.com/control-arm-4b0505311.html

They seem to hold quite a big stock of OEM and OEM quality parts. Might be useful for some of the harder to find parts.

Nice find Felix. Thanks for sharing.
I did contact the guy mentioned above to see if the parts were available.
I was informed that the person who bought the car also bought all the parts.

Sorry I missed this. Chris is correct.

The lower rear wishbone is actually not special to our cars - it's just the bushes. There is a Sticker on the wishbones with the RS6 part number - peel that off and you have the normal wishbone part number underneath it, common to all C5 A6 Audis. The bushes, afaikt where never available separately from audi, so when I rebuilt my rear suspension, I used strongflex ones on the lowers - that was maybe 3 years ago now and they are all fine.

Am I sure about this - certainly. I had my wishbones (4B0 505 311A & 4B0 505 312A) on the bench alongside the common ones (4B0 505 311 & 4B0 505 312) and they are identical.
So buy the cheap ones, shotblast & powdercoat and put a set of the strongflex bushes in. FWIW, I only used the strongflex bushes where audi ones were not available - the uppers are all OEM since those bushes were available.
