Hi guys. Hope everyone is having a great evening.
Finally picked up a 2016 Audi RS6 last night from what I believed to be an established and reputable dealer. (company been around for 30 years)
Everything was fine on collection last night. This morning I noticed the car is idling very rough. Car feels like it's going over potholes and what not just sat idle.
The second issue I had - was as I was reversing - my brakes completely hardened up extremely dramatically and I was just about able to stop the car before reversing into someone.
I called the dealer - to talk about the rough idle. To my absolute shock he said I forgot to tell you it needs a vaccum replacement as the current vaccum has a tear in it? and we've sent the part out to you today. It should be an easy DIY fix. I couldn't believe it. He didn't mention which vaccum.
I mentioned the brakes and he dismissed it. I told him the two issues are closely linked (as per my research)
Any advice? I am considering whether to reject the car immediately, or see if this vaccum replacement does the trick.
Anyone recognise my cars symptoms and may know the issue?
RS6 brakes failing & rough idle.

Name and shame.. I wouldn't be happy with this if I were in your position.
My immediate thought...what else was/is wrong with it..that he hasn't disclosed, was he hoping you'd not notice and only if you brought it up would he declare his hand, that's incredibly wreckless, careless and to a degree somewhat underhand.
It's situations like this that give the majority of car dealers a bad name. Ignoring your brakes comment just exacerbates things for me.
I'd be thinking long and hard about this if I were you.

My thoughts exactly. His response was 'what on earth has brakes got to do with the vaccum'.
I know car rejection is a long process - and I'm certain they won't make it easy either.
How big of a job do you reckon it is having the vaccum replaced?

I missed including that in my initial reply....."aw yeh, the parts on its way to you".....for you to fit it ?
I think at that point I'd of probably lost it a bit with this guy..
Pretty brazen comment if you ask me....
I'm not sure mate, someone on here will no doubt chime in with the answer.

Re: RS6 brakes failing & rough idle.
Have you considered a "proper" third-party inspection of the vehicle, backed up with a written report I mean.
I've never had to hand a car back with one exception and that was 20 years ago, Glasgow Audi swapped the A4 18T we bought, for another much nicer A4 18T, this was due to the paint flaking at one of the rear quarters.
They were brilliant to deal with, I must say.
They sourced the second model and had ours back within the week, tremendous service on their part, it did help my then wife had tears in her eyes when we were speaking to the salesman.. she was upset that the original car had been accident damaged and hence the lacquer had started to peel.
Maybe take your Mrs with you and get her to do the same lol... all kidding aside, mind and update on here what the outcome is mate please

Re: RS6 brakes failing & rough idle.
Your car's rough idle and brake issues might be related to a vacuum leak, which the dealer has acknowledged and sent a replacement part for. The brake problem is concerning and could indicate a more serious issue with the brake booster.
