Key not working
Key not working
Any help appreciated.
Changed battery on my fob now not unlocking the doors. Read the faqs but it says use drivers door lock unfortunately I don't have a key hole in my doors only the boot.
Any ideas??? Tried to do it with Vagcom but need login code.

Re: Key not working
You don’t need a login code to do the key fobs. You must have been looking at programming the key transponder to the immobiliser. Completely different process.
You might be able to do it in the ignition instead of the door lock. Try the same procedure but with ignition instead.
Sometimes yoI have no choice but to wipe the 4 learned remotes before you are able to learn new ones.

Re: Key not working
Fingers crossed for you it works.
I had the same problem years ago but cannot remember how I fixed it.
The info is on here but I had door locks.

Re: Key not working
It’s easy enough to do with the Vagcom. You just have to delete all the existing fobs before you learn again.
Also be wary of cheapo button batteries. They can seem good (correct voltage) but not be able to supply enough current to do anything useful. I always get proper brands.

Re: Key not working
Gav although not essential. I have my battery changed with the yearly service.
Got caught out years ago in the middle of nowhere.
So I am paranoid with fob batteries.

Re: Key not working
Keep trying various combinations of turning the ignition to position 2 and pressing the unlock and lock buttons. You might get it. Hold it near where the door lock was and try that, too. Presumably the coil is still there and working.
Also use the other key to do the ignition.
Keep trying different combos.
If you use the Vagcom, then connect to the central convenience. 35 IIRC.
I can’t remember offhand what the procedure is. I remember it being intuitive though.

Re: Key not working
Changed the battery in my remote control yesterday.
I remembered this post so was expecting to have issues.
After the new battery was installed, walked up to my car and pressed the unlock button.
Unexpectedly the door unlocked and everything worked normally.
However I can recall years ago when after changing the battery I had problems.
On that occasion I had to recode the key.
