New Owner - Few questions (teething issues)

Post by Rawhide » Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:28 pm

Hi All. I recently somewhat unplanned bought a 2006 B7 RS4. It's not a perfect example but give me a good base to bring back to top condition. However I have a few issues which I'd welcome this forums advice on..

The car is missing a battery clamp, and also the under boot floor part which is held down with the wheel nut type thing. Essentially when you open the boot floor you look right at the battery. I'm also missing the clamp for the battery which I want to fix immediately. As the battery is in the boot I'd expect this to to be an RS4 special part? Could anyone share the part number so I could look out for these on ebay.

I have a missfire at low revs. The CEL has come on. I did have VCDS on an old laptop with a cable which worked for VW Mk5 Golf but the cable branded as 'VAG168' but seems not to work on VCDS which I downloaded on a windows 10 laptop. I've bought another cable from Amazon which I hope will tell me more about the missfire which I hope to be a coil. The plugs were changed about 10k ago when the engine was de-coked so I'm hopeful it's a coil. What is the general wisdom on which coils to fit ? It currently has Bosch 0221604115 fitted. Are these factory OEM spec? The car is standard but has had a 'stage 2 tune' from MRC about three years ago.

I want to 're-chrome' the car which has been converted to the black badge look which I'm not keen on. I've bought an OEM rear RS4 badge. I would expect the chrome audi rings on the rear to be the same as all B7 cars? The front grill is the worst. It's been badly painted on the chrome outside only. The honeycomb grill is still unpainted. Is it possible to replace the chrome surround only?

Finally, the centre console must have had a factory phone mount, which looks to have been removed with a hacksaw leaving two unsightly holes in the dash. I've already bought a new centre console and will replace this shortly. Are there any tips and tricks to this? Do the seats need to come out ?

Many thanks in advance. I do really like the car, but need to get it to my standard as a priority
