The cars will arrive from Germany with between 50 & 90 miles on the clock, the minimum being 50 -- at random cars will be selected for an axtended road test. The dealers have to run a MINIMUM 10 miles following PDI - I suspect most will do between 15/20 -- the last thing a dealer wants is a problem with an RS4 -- especially when the customers have been waiting so long.
A lot of people think that the dealers will thrash these cars -- in my experience(18 years) most dealers hate having to drive customer cars of this sort -- imagine your out on roadtest doing nothing wrong and you get swiped by a juggernaut! think how the dealer feels making that phone call -- I know I've had to do it.
That said -- our own demonstrator will be a slightly different kettle of fish, omce run in it will fun.
Dilemma???
Can the dealer reset the clock so that when they are picked up they are set back to zero? Most other manufacturers have the ability to reset delivery mileage, right?

I heard this too, sure it can be done on VW cars..... but I think you can only reset them 3 times and on all 3 occasions the mileage must be below 500miles!
If I had know this I could have done this on my R32
Surely it cant be true as you could potentially get away with driving 1500 miles?

Well Suppose you could always demand you are there with the car when its being PDI'd, i.e. passenger riding along, but im sure they can take a bit of a thrashing anyway, reckon the 60 mile test in germany will route out most problems etc before they arrive to us.

No the mileage can not be reset, it's true it used to be possible, however this is no longer the case, and was forbidden by Audi long before the ability was lost -- and rightly so.
as for customer coming along on road test -- I've never had one ask, but would not have a problem with it - although the customer would not be able to drive the car.,

How do they drive them on/off the transporters / ferries, carry out a PDI / test drive and still only have <5 miles on the clock of most new cars (and I'm not being specific to the RS4 or even Audi here?No the mileage can not be reset, it's true it used to be possible, however this is no longer the case, and was forbidden by Audi long before the ability was lost -- and rightly so.
