Door lock micro switches

Post by steve2003rs6 » Tue Aug 30, 2022 1:36 pm

Hi all.
Is there anyone on here that can replace door lock micro switches.
Or can recommend a company that can do this.

Due to micro switch problems on all four doors.
I recently bought 4 second hand locks and had them fitted while I was at unit 20.
Three work perfectly and 1 still shows won’t safe and won’t desafe etc.
Still have my original lock and looking to get the micro switches replaced if at all possible.

I don't think anyone has ever identified the correct replacement microswitch, but if you send me your lock I'll be happy to look at it and see if I can find a suitable one. As long as you're not in a particular hurry, that is.

If those microswitches are the right ones then it looks like an easy fix. Not very helpful that 2 different types are shown in the photos.

Pretty sure someone on here found some and they worked well, can't remember who it was though.
I ended up buying the complete unit (cheap copy) and 1 worked ok and another failed in about 6 months if I remember correctly.
This is going back many years ago, there were plenty of posts about locks on here at one time.

Thanks for that dunc.
This is also the reason I am looking to repair rather than replace.
I know the lock is fully working and it is just the micro switches needing replacement.

Having read back hough it again, the info required isn't in there. Matt couldn't remember the RS part number. I'm sure if you took the unit to an RS Shop they could help out, there's a good location in Brum (dudeston Mill Road)

I'll see if I can identify it once I get Steve's lock.

Unfortunately there are a lot of cheap switches on the market. From what I have read they don’t last very long.

Like everything else I suppose. You tend to get what you pay for.

Posted today Ben. Door lock on its way to you.
Many thanks mate.
As far as I know it’s the original door lock and micro switches.

I've received Steve's lock and dismantled it.

The microswitch linked to above (yellow circle image below) is the one for detecting whether the door is open or not. It's NO. If the issue you are having is that the car doesn't know when the door is open, then this is the one to change.

Inside the lock there are 2 more subminiature microswitches (purple and green circles) which are position switches. One for knowing when the door is locked (NC), the other for knowing when the door is dead-locked (SAFE locked) which is NO..
Img_6990.jpg
And in-situ:
IMG_6989.JPG

The brand of the door close switch is Burgess. I can't find the exact switch, might only have been made for the doorlock manufacturer. Looks like a special job based on the V4NS range of microswitch.

I think all the non-OE switches are basically a bodge. I haven't found any that look better than the ones srichards linked to.

The SAFE microswitches are Cherry, now ZF. Pretty sure it's a DK-sub-sub-minature model. Need to find the exact part number. There are some similar on aliexpress. For example:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000842983707.html

Although that one has the contacts pointing the wrong way and the other switch in the lock is identical put the posts are on the other side. Haven't found that one.

Pin out:

1: motor common
2: locking motor
3: lock microswitch
4: Door close switch (directly actions the puddle light also)
5: Safe switch
6: switch common
7: dead lock motor

More to follow.

Molveno do a very similar microswitch to the dk-sub-sub. Closest part number G3-03-130-L-00-A-2 (left) and G3-03-130-R-00-A-3 based on their catalogue:

The SAFE microswitches are Cherry DK1G-TR-A0 and DK1G-UL-A0 as far as I can tell. Now can they be found?!
