Hello,
I need some help. My RS6 has been parked for about 2 years. My alternator died right at around 70k miles (timing belt time) and I procrastinated because I did the 35k service and didn’t enjoy it. So now I’m motivated to get her going again, put in a fresh battery and turn the key and nothing. Everything electrical seems to work but the starter doesn’t even engage, or click. It’s not the immobilizer, the key is fine and that light goes off. I’m thinking I may have caused this, at one point I had to move the car and just shifted it to neutral to push it out of the way without the key in the ignition. Could I have damaged the auto transmission range switch or maybe the ignition interlock cable? If it’s not that is there a relay that could be the culprit? I’d appreciate any insight or experience anyone may have had with similar problems. There are no codes that that would seem connected to this problem.
Thanks

Re: 03 RS6 Will Not Start
No, you haven’t damaged it by pushing it.
The car might think you’re not in P. Is the little foot symbol next to the lever lit? Does it go out when you press the brake pedal? What’s indicated on the dash when you go through the gear lever positions?
Does the starter click when you try to start? Does the voltage indicator on the dash stay steady when you turn the key or does it drop a bit?
Have you got a Vag Com?

Has it been parked indoors or outside? Worth checking fuses for everything just in case one you need has popped.
Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key into the first position (before start position)?

Re: 03 RS6 Will Not Start
I had a non-start issue on my S8 which was down to the F125 switch breaking and not thinking I was in P or N.
Got round it by pulling the relevant relay and putting a short in place. In a D2 it's J207 and is a relay type 204.
(F125 now replaced)
Note, the wire goes between the two smaller terminals opposite each other and at right angles, NOT the two big obvious ones!

Re: 03 RS6 Will Not Start
Just to add that we (retired garage owner friend and I) determined it was the F125 by putting a multimeter on the various contacts as we moved the gear shift.
Remember, if that is the problem and you bypass the relay you can then turn the starter in any gear, not just P or N.
Pretty unlikely to happen, but best to know......

Re: 03 RS6 Will Not Start
As usual. All good advice on here.
Hope you get it sorted and it’s nothing serious.
I had a non start problem recently. Turned out to be a duff battery which resulted in a petrol flooded engine.
Took quite a while for it to fire up after a new battery was installed. Thankfully she has Been ok since.
