So a small update. Took it to Audi in the West of the Capital.Very impressed with level of Service and actual interest in my car unlike my local dealership.
No sign of mapping on ECU on Engine or Gearbox. Spoke with technician and he thinks it's the Rev counter not working properly- not "communicating" with Engine properly so giving wrong Rev readings. The soft limiter reads at 7.5K LOL - so he said that kind of confirms the rev mismatch as it's 3K out. It's not a remap.
That means it will need a new dash, well Rev counter part apparently. He's seen this once before apparently. It's going to be replaced under warranty. So it goes in next week.
Thank you for the helpful responses, I'll keep you updated.

Well the car is back from the biggest Audi dealership.
Car engine and gearbox was not remapped. The dash had non original Audi parts. According to service manager some eBay Chinese electronic parts!
So engine and tachometer not talking to each other. So new dashboard components fitted as gesture of Goodwill by supplying BMW dealer. My car hasn’t been “clocked” and there was no explanation as to how the car ended up like this.
All present and correct now apart from horrendous car parking dent it picked up whilst it was with them..
Not a great start in owning this car.
