Fuel Economy--RS6

Hey guys, was just wondering what kind of range people are getting out of a full tank on a RS6, once filled it comes up with 600kms range, but havent achieved anywhere near this.

Majority of round town commute, and not leaning on it much at all.

On the highway - I get a range as per the onboard computer of about 680km on a full tank. That would be an incredibly boring trip. On the way to work - if I use the RS6, its about 65km of highway and 5km urban. I get 1,1ltr/10km consumption on this trip, I do about 110kmh-115kmh with a few overtakes. 1,1ltr/10km = 21mpg ish.... okay I probably have more than a "few" overtaking manouvres.

My average is about 17,5 lt / 100 km. It is a mix of highway and city driving. If I find the right place, I do not hesitate to use the pedal

I average somewhere between 21MPG and 23MPG depending on how much fun I'm having.

However I am reminded that frankly if fuel economy matters to you, you shouldn't have bought an RS6 These things are set up for max GPM (Grins per mile) not MPG.

Its an interesting topic, but not an essential prerequisite to purchasing the car.
I think the OP was interested by it, as am I, did it affect my purchase decision....hell no.

Nothing wrong with asking the question, and if you're using the car as a daily hack then its probably better to know upfront (spoken as someone who ran an E61 M5 as a daily for 8 years)

With my daily runs to and from work & dog walking (generally trips around 10 miles) I consistently get 300-310 miles out of a tank, I always fill up with 98ron fuel, range upon filling is always 440 miles but that goes down in a non-linear fashion, I find that the first quarter of a tank equals 100-110 miles but the subsequent eighths on the tank gauge drop at 35-40 mile increments. Longer runs have seen 400-450 miles out of a tank depending on the amount of stop-start traffic on the motorway.

My long term average since purchasing the car is 23.9, for comparison my previous 340i touring saw a long term average of 32 mpg over 32000 miles on pretty much the same type of journeys. So for a car thats almost 300kg heavier with an engine a third bigger and almost double the power output its really not that bad going.

Interesting, as I have driven the current tank of 98RON fuel as conservatively as possible, and achieved 420km for full tank, 262Miles, it has been tuned and doesn't run the 4 cylinder shutdown or turn off at the lights anymore, but the best numbers I can achieve are 11.5-11.8 L/100 in open road cruising at just on 60mph.

First thing I do after starting the car is turn the stop / start off (not great for the battery given the type of journeys I make) Much of my driving is down one particular A road where the speed limit varies between 30/40 & 50 as you go in and out of the various villages along the route, its not worth speeding as its a favourite stretch of road for the mobile camera vans so I do tend to get good use of the 4 cylinder deactivation, in fact I get a sense of perverse pleasure if I'm able to accelerate from 30 to 40 without re-engaging the other bank... I know, the next car I buy should really be a 1.2 Golf

If you are displaying the live MPG reading on the virtual cockpit display (bit between the speedometer and rev dials) then four cylinder mode is displayed in green text whenever its engaged.

Like others have said it’s not the strong point of the car! But I have been doing some long driving lately and some A road / mixed town driving. I’ve been using the cruise control quite a lot. I’ve found that to boost the fuel economy a lot. Not sure if anyone else has noticed?

What I found is the engine will spend a lot more time in 4 cylinder mode vs using your foot. Attached pic is a mix of town and A road journey. Reasonably short but got a good return using cruise. Very boring drive tho…..

Im seeing around 27ish mpg on the motorway. Not sure whether its because it only has 8500miles on it so far and the engine will loosen up a bit more with more mileage and get the mpg into the 'very' early 30's ?
